From the Sumo Ring to the Kitchen

In my junior high school days, I entered the world of sumo wrestling. My ring name, "Kochomon," was taken from a scenic spot here in Echizen. Through the grueling daily training, what kept me going were the smiles of everyone who cheered me on.

Hospitality & The Pursuit of Flavor

After retiring from sumo, driven by a desire to bring smiles through the truly delicious seafood of my hometown, I opened "Kanihachi." We pursued the best way to eat Echizen crab, which led us to our signature "Steamed Crab."

Selected by My Own Eyes

Outside the crab season, I take my own fishing boat out to sea. Our seafood swims in live tanks until moments before cooking, ensuring we serve the most delicious catch in its absolute best condition.
